The employers’ representatives have decided to inform the Prime Minister of A'ictoria (Air McPherson) that no good pm pose could be served by any further conference with the timber strikers’ representatives, . saying the terms already offered 'by the employers and rejected by the men were as generous as could he made. DISCONTENTED STRIKERS. LOOKING FOR SCAPEGOAT. (Received this day at 8.30. a.m.) ' SYDNEY, April 14. Rumblings of discontent within the ranks of the timber strikers are becoming increasingly manifest. The workers are considering .whether they should apply for de-registration of their own union and registration of a 'new body embracing volunteers and men who refused to strike. ’ : Ah alternative proposal is that agitation he started in the old 'union for me removal of the extremists, who I have i gained, the ascendancy.: ,■ It is pointed out that the chairman of the -•strike* committee', Kavanagh,- is 'the owner of a Communist weekly, the policy of which is to foment, strife .and ’industrial trouble:’ ' General regret was expressed by strikers that'they did not remain -atwork. Members of the Disputes Committee realise they are engaged in a losing fight, and are looking for a scape-goat. PROTECTION ASKED FOR. IF MILLS RE-OPENED. MELBOURNE, April 14. Alter, refusing the Premier’s request for another peace conference, the Employers’ Disputes Board asked that Government ensure police protection if they re-open their mills with volunteer labour.
