TECHNICAL SCHOOL TEACHERS

The fourteenth annual meeting of New Zealand Technical Schools’ Teachers’ Association opened to-day, Mr Wild (President) in the chair. Proposals for the reorganisation of the educational system in New Zealand were considered, ancl it was decided to set up a committee to go fully into the question and to report to-morrow..

SECONDARY SCHOOL ASSISTANTS

The Secondary Schools’ Assistants’ Asociation meeting also opened to-day, the Presidential address being given by H. E. Gilbert Smith, who dealt with the question of training, of secondary .school teachers to make them fitter for many difficulties which they were beset. He emphasised it was necessary to regain parental confidence, without which success was almost impossible ancl also by no means wlmt was less important, to present a united front in attempting to combat the spirit of mnterraiism and irresponsibility which at present seemed to persuade the whole world. The following officers were elected: President, G. V. Morice; Vice-Presi-dent, Miss K. V. Edgerley; Executive, J. A. Colquhoun, C. R. Jones, 0. J. Begg, V. M. 'Stewart, F. Martin Smith, G. J. McNauglits; Secretary and Treasurer, A. S. Farquhar; Auditor, W. Alexander. Morice was elected one of the VicePresidents of the Secondary Schools Association and Miss Edgerlcv ancl Colquhoun and J. G. Mackay, Members' of the Council.
