SOVIET & GERMANY

RESENTMENT OVER MAY DAY. (United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright). LONDON, May 13. “The Times’s” Berlin correspondent states: General resentment is expressed at the Soviet’s unsatisfactory repy to the German Ambassador’s comlllamts regarding the anti-German demonstrations on May Day, including a speech by M. Voroshiloff, Soviet Commissar of War, and a model of a cruiser carrying '• German colours, and .also placards insulting to the members of the German Cabinet, which were carried in a procession of Soviet tro ns outside t lie German Consulate in Leningrad. It is understood that the reply-contains not a single word cf regret or excuse, but declares that, M. Vorosliileff had no intention of intcrforiim-with German domestic affairs. An authentic report \ of the speech says the reply, contains nothing that could he so construed, while the Soviet would not permit German sovereign emblems to be insulted even on May Day. It is added that the Leningrad, demonstrations were “probably spontaneous,” and would be investigated.
