A DAILY MESSAGE

DON’T CHEAT ! The man who is honest only “as a matter of policy ” is not an honest man. Yot, that honesty is the best policy many a dishonest man will cheerfully agree. You have heard of the fellow who said, 11 Honesty is the host policy, i know. 1 have tried both.” This follow became honest as a matter of policy, but he was not an honest, man. However, that honesty is the host policy needs no proof. The cheat—the man who marks his cards in the game of life—is the man who will he surely cheated in the end. and by no other hand than his own. You may think you know how many cheats who are happy and successful, lint you do not. You do not know even one! Do not judge any cheat you know h,v what you see on the “ outside.” That which determines a man’s happiness is on the “ ijiside.” There never was a cheat in the world whose conscience had not cheated him of all that really made life worth living; for no man can do wrong and fool right atiout it. Surely, the best policy is honesty! —M. PRESTON STANLEY
