There is no hope of reassembling. The hours question was the vital issue and the employers were not prepared to depart from the 18 weekly. The Unions wanted the issue referred to private arbitration and the employers refused. RAILAYAYAI EX’S AIASS MEETINGS. SYDNEY, May 7.
Concerted action has been taken b\ the Railway Commissioners of New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania to induce the Federal Arbitration Court to lengthen the. working hours and to modify the privileges of the railwaymen. The rail laymen are •calling mass meetings to discuss this developmentwhich is causing considerable resentment.
