BRANSON MURDER
TWO ARRESTS MADE. (I ailed I’ress Association.— By EloetreTelegraph —Copyright ) (Received this dav at 10.30. a.m.) LONDON, .May 7.In connection with the Branson murder (cabled on 6th May) the police have arrested Joseph Girard, formerly Branson’s gardener, and Girard’s brothet-in-law, Francis Pinet, manager of an hotel at Monte Carlo. Girard and Pinet were subjected to.a gruelling third degree interrogation which lasted seventeen' hours and under which both men were .physically exhausted. A clue leading to their arrests was the fact that Girard’s wife did not serve Branson’s lunch at the usual time, • though there should have been no reason to believe Branson was missing. LONDON, May 7. It was stated that a will was discovered at l’inet’s house: “1 leave to Pinet the hotel Monte Carlo at Lesbaux, made and signed by myself, Olive Branson.” Investigation revealed that Branson was on the verge of selling the hotel. Thus Pinet was faced with unemployment. The police are satisfied Girard had no connection with the case and he was released. Pinet was formally charged with the murder.
