At least- fourteen persons have been killed owing to skidding, due to the rain mixing with the thick grease deposits left during tho dry spell. Many of the new drivers received their first warning of a skid when they found themselves ditched. The Duke of York, when going re Linidon. collided with a motor cycle and side car. The impact fortunately was slight, and both vehicles were little damaged. The Duke was able to continue his journey.
