MISSION STEAMER’S MISHAP. (By Telegraph—press Association). AUCKLAND-, May 4. The mission steamer “Southern Cross.” which was disabled at Norfolk Island with a broken rudder trunk, sailed from there at sunset last evening for Auckland, and is due here next Tuesday. Acordingly to advice received in Auckland, a jury rudder has been rigged, and the trip back to New Zealand will lie made at a leisurely speed of seven knots. On arrival in Auckland, the mission steamer will go into dock to • have repairs effected. DUNEDIN LOANS. DUNEDIN, May 4. MAX DROWNED, DUNEDIN, .May 5. A young mail, Alexander St. Clair McGregor, aged 22 years, single. <e Invercargill, who was spending a holiday in Queenstown. was drowned in the lake near Queenstown Wharf in the early hours of this morning. Arthur Knight, a young mail who was motor-cyn’iusS. collided with a car in Lincoln Road last evening, and suffered compound fracture of right thigh and a broken right arm. In addition, his right font was almost severed at: the ankle, and it- had to he amputated.
