In the title role y .Miss Gish makes a striking, unforgettable figure. The greatness of the true artist is revealed in every phase of her acting right through the romance, the mighty mountain drama and the love scenes at the end when Annie induces lan, her man, to shake and be friends with his enemies. Norman Kerry supports Miss Gish and Hobart liosworth, Hale, Frank Currier, Russell Simpson and Patricia Avery also appear in the cast. John S. Robertson directed this screen classic. The picture is a stupendous presentation of the mighty Highland drama and sweetest love story in Scottish history—a realistic, colorful, unique pieoe of entertainment. Thousands of “extras” appear in the blood-stirring clansmen scenes and in the famous “massacre of Glencoe” equenees. All the romantic spirit of old Scotland, all the stirring pageantry of the days when the Campbells and the MacDonalds were sworn foes, and raids and forays were of daily—and nightly—occurrence, and the claymore was used as often as the qpade—all the glamour of departed history l —they have all been brought to life again in this mammoth screen version of “Annie Laurie.” It is a very stirring recreation of the mighty Highland drama of old Scottish history, coupled with the sweetest love story ever brought to the- screen. Huge old Scottish castles thousands of “extras” in kilts and tartans impressive mountain scenes thundering battle actions and clan gatherings, romance and love, all arc blended in a vivid kaleidoscope in this stupendous production.
