COTTON MILLS CLOSING DOWN. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received this day at . 10.30. a.m.) LONDON, May 3. The Federation of Master Cotton Spinners Association of Manchester decided to close down the mills on 18th May until the end of the cardroom operatives strike at Alma mills, Oldham, affecting two hundred thousand operatives and five hundred and' sixty mills. EARL HAIG. FRENCH STATUE TO BE ERECTED (Received this day at 11 a.m.) PARIS, May 3. M. Poincare has given support to a proposal to erect a statue to Earl Haig at Montreuil. Subscriptions have been opened and a sculptor commissioned. ‘ It will probably be unveiled in 1930 at a big Anglo-French demonstration.
