WESTLAND COMPETITIONS SOCIETY

FRIDAY, MAY 3rd. The Committee of the above met at the County Chambers at 4.30 o’clock. Present: Mr D. J. Evans (President), Revds. Nelson Wright and KnowlesSinitli, Miss A. Duff, Mrs Fane, Messrs Partridge, Swoney, Lynn and Osmers (secretary). Apology was made for the absence of Messrs Conning, Richards, and Duff. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The outward correspondence was read and approved. The inward correspondence was read and received. It included the test pieces in music and elocution, as submitted by the adjudicator, Mr L. Cliff Standford, of Christchurch. The lists of selected pieces appears below. Three applications were received for judging the dancing section and that of Miss Muriel Waugh, of Christchurch, was accepted. The dates for the Competitions, September 9, 10 and 11 were confirmed after a general discussion. The schedule for open and own selection classes was revised and some new classes, including juvenile duets in character, added.. The number of performers in playettes was set down at not more than seven in one piece, both juvenile and open. •. Any further adjustment of the schedule before printing was lefV to the Secretary and the President. Before the meeting terminated a motion .of congratulation was passed to the President on heading; the municipal poll. • ' i': .
