(By Telegraph—Press Association). AT DUNEDIN. DUNEDIN, May 2. Tlie City Council election gives four now Councillors—F. L. Lawrence, H. L. Tapley, J. J. Marlow, Frank Wilkinson (all Electoral Association nominees), eight of the nine old Councillors were returned, the only one defeated being D. Larenach. Of 12 Labour candidates only one, J. W. Mu tiro, was returned. There was a record poll of 16,000. At Port Chalmers, W. G. Love, junr. defeated the retiring mayor, Thomas Anderson. At Balclutlia the retiring mayor, F. V. White was re-elected. AT PAHIATUA. PAHIATUA, May 2. Municipal contests yesterday were the most interesting 'for years. The mayoralty was between J. 1). Wilson (formerly mayor on several occasions) and S. T. Tinney (Councillor for the past ten years and latterly deputymayor). Wilson 343, Tinney 294. councillors (nine) —Murch 437, Davidson 390. Murphy 359, Boagey 359, Britland 355, Tulloch 344, Ross 304, Donald 294, Brown 293 (elected); Vaughan 272, Mori arty 267, Hod'ft 238. White 208, Bentley 199, Lett 191, Wills 126, Neilseu 97. Boagey, Tulloch, Ross, and Donald were members of the last Council. Cil RISTCHURCH COUNCIL. • CHRISTCHURCH, May 2. Owing to the proportional representation system of voting, the final result of the City Council election will not be known 'for a few days. On the figures available D. G. Sullivan (Labour), 7!. H. Andrews (Citizens’ Association), -.1. E. Lyons (C.A.), J. W. Bean land (C.A.), J. A. Flesher (C.A.), and VV. Heaven (C.A.) have been elected, having received more than the quota. Candidates who appear to be assured of election are Mrs E. R. McCombs (Labour), A. E. Armstrong (Independent Labour), W. H. Williamson (C.A.), T. H. Butterfield (Labour), and F. R. Cooke (Labour). Others who appear to have good chances of election are Dr H. Thacker (Independent), F. G. Dunn (C.A.), R-. B. Dailey (C.A.) and P. W. Sharpe (t.abour). It is believed the Citizens’ Association will have a majority. For the Harbour Board, H. T. Armstrong (Labour), H. Holland (Citizens) were elected. Two seats are in doubt. AT ELTHAM. ELTHAM, May 2. J. J. Bridger was re-elected, defeating G. W. Peebles by 634 to 224 for the mayoralty. AT CARTERTON. CARTERTON, May 2. Carterton mayoralty.—W. Fisher returned unopposed. Election of Council yesterday resulted—,l. L. Churchouse, G. Hughan, J. Udy, W. Tucker, W. A. Hart, D. L. Taverner, C. E. Jones, E. Clark and A. M. Broadbent. T. H. Hughes, a member of the Council for 20 years, and H. H. Armstrong were defeated. A poll on the question of forming the Borough into a Fire Board was defeated by 255 to 108. ROTORUA, May 2. Thomas Jackson was elected mayor. AT OTAKI. OTAKI, May 2. The contest for the mayoralty resulted—Charles F redericlc Atmore 3i|p votes, William Henry Bowden 239. AT WAIROA. WAIROA, May 2. The sitting Mayor, J. Corkill was easily defeated by R. T. Ester (former Town Clerk). Only three of the old .Council were ile-etected. There was heavy polling. AT HAWERA. HAWERA, May 2. There were eleven candidates tor nine seats on the Hawera Borough Council, those successful being:—E. Morrissey, W. G. Stange, W. E. Walkley, G, J. Bagby, W. G. Simpson. A. Reid (re-elected), and H. K Tyson and A. K. North. A poll taken on the half-holiday resulted in a majority of 70 for the retention of Wednesday. The issue was between Wednesday and Saturday, the voting being: Wednesday 1286, Saturday 385, Thursday 1. AT TAURANGA TAURANGA, May 2. B. C. Robbins (Mayor ten years ago) defeated A. Tunks and A. N. lies for Tauranga. Mayoralty. AT CAMBRIDGE CAMBRIDGE, May 2. Polling for the Cambridge Mayoralty resulted:— C. H. Priestly 433. T. F. Richardson (sitting member) 375. Borough Councillors elected:—H. A. Bell, W. G. Care, C. W. Clark, P. T. Glanville. Iv. Moore, R. W. Moorhouse. E. C. Walls. M. Wells, A. Wilkinson. Defeated candidates: T. Kelly and T. ,L Sexton. For combined district, including Boroughs of Cambridge, MorrinsviUe and Tea roll a. Halan' Bell was re-elected with 1432, T. E. Martin 1392. Tlfe Power Board Loan of £10.500 was carried by 275 votes to 52. •

AT W AIM ATE. WAIMATE, May 2. Public endorsement <of Mayor G. Dash’s progressive policy was given in his return unopposed, and in the election of his full ticket for the Council: Dr Wylie, F. T. Wallace, G. Richardson, J. B. Robinson, W. G. Paul, D. MacDonald, H. E. Lewis, A. J. Kirby and J. A twill. AT NAPIER. ’ SATURDAY RETAINED. NAPIER, May 2. Saturday was retained as the weekly half-holiday. For the Harbour Board three breakwater supporters were elected with in. creased majorities. AT WOODVILLE. WOODVILLE, May 2. For the Mayoralty, H. P. Horne was re-elected 2i3, Frank Shearman ,110. HALF-HOLIDAY. CHANGE TO WEDNESDAY. WAI.PUKURAU, May 2. After five consecutive polls extending over ten years, the burgesses yesterday decided in favour of Wednesday halfholiday instead of Saturday, the voting being Wednesday 455, Saturday 374.
