PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE
BUSINESS DURING MARCH. The following particulars of the loan transactions of the Public Trust Office and new business reported during the .month ended 31st M,arch, 1929, have been supplied hy the Prime Minister, the Right Hon. Sir J. G. Ward:— The amount paid out in settlement of new loans was £124,864. Further new loans were granted to the amount of £70,405, and the total of new loans now awaiting completion is £380,341, while offers of lonas less than the fulj amounts applied for amount to £85,517 —a total of £465,858.“ Renewals of 42 loans amounting to £242,660 were also authorised.
Applications for additional new loans amounting to £250,273 are now under consideration.
Estates of a value of £849.313 were reported and accepted for admiiiistiation during the month. On 31st March, 1928. the total value of, the estates under administration was £44,155.548, and the new business for the twelve months ended 31st March last amounted to £7,091,3-10. Although the new business lor the twelve months ended 31st March, 1298, was greater than that of any previous year, the figure for that year has been exceeded by those of the year just closed, to the extent of £579.422. Grants of administration made by the Court in favour of the Public trustee numbered 129 for the month. During the month 517 new wills appointing the Public Trustee executor were deposited for safe custody witn the Public Trustee by living'testators, and the total number now held is 02.841 representing an estimated present value of £251.000,000.
