THE MEMBERSHIP,

WANGANUI, April 27

Hon. W. Veitcli announced to-day the following had accepted positions on the Transport Advisory Council:— R. Masters (Stratford), Government nominee and Chairman ol the Council. H. C. Jones (Auckland), representative of North Island Motor Union, H. Hallidav (Dunedin) representative of South Island Motor Union. J. A. Troup (Wellington), representative of N.Z. Municipal Association. E, Smith (Christchurch), representative of N.Z. Master Carriers’ Association Federation.

H. L. Rogers (Wellington) representative of Wholesale and Retail Motor Traders Association of New Zealand.

A. McFaiTaho (Wellington), representative of labour engaged in transport work generally. . W. Morrison (Maxwell), representative ol N.Z. Counties Association. H. P. Knight (Wellington), representative of service ear proprietors. L. A. Lonergan (Wellington) representative of motor omnibus proprietors. The work of finalisation of setting up of the Council is now in hand and it is hoped to call it together at an early date.

The Minister expressed himself as being highly satisfied with the Council, /which he was certain would bring specialised knowledge to the assistance of the Transport Department and himself which would be of immense value m solving the problems of transport, which would have to he tackled-at an early date. The gentlemen who comprised the Council are all well known iind able men whose work has brought them into close touch with various aspects of transport and the problems relating thereto. _____
