COAL TROUBLE
FURTHEH PROPOSALS

Proposals as the basis tor a resumption of work have been placed before the Cabinet. H is intended by Government to convene'another conference between the coal owners and representatives of the miners, when (he pro posals will he submitted. .Ministers are confident that they will he acceptable to both sides, and the mines reopen within a fortnight.
Details of the proposals have not been divulged hut it is understood that the State and Federal Governments will hear the proposed reductions of the men’s wages. The mines will reopen and a Royal Commission will be appointed immediately.
