(Received this day at 5.30. a.m.) WASHINGTON. April 20. Authority to construct two great battleships of thirty-five thousand tons will be asked from Congress tliis
year. It is announced by Admiral Hughes Chief of Naval operations that these will replace the, AVvoming, Florida, Utah, under the provisions of the Washington Treaty, which provides for scrapping these ships at the end <a£ 1934. The now ships will exceed twenty-one knots and have the usual deck armour protection against aircraft bombers.
