INFLUENZA

WELLINGTON, April 19
An assurance that all precautions have been taken to prevent the Government motor ship Maui romare, whose crew recently developed influenza in Auckland, from carrying the infection back to tin' islands, was given by the Prime Minister in a statement issued to-day as billows: —“Arising out of the recent departure of the Government vessel Maui Poniare, from Auckland for Niue and Samoa,” said Sir Joseph Ward, “ fears have been expressed in certain quarters as to tlie danger of carrying tbe influenza infection to the islands at • which the vessel calls. I need hardly state that every precaution has been taken by the authorities of the Health Department to obviate the slightest possibility of anything of the kind happening.”
