VALUER FAILS
IN MAKING PROPER ROLL
MAGISTERIAL DECTSION
(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.)
WANGANUI, April 19
At the Assessment Court to-day, J. H. Salmon, presiding, preliminary points were raised that the ( ity Valuer had not made values in accordance with the Act, and in compiling valuations had ignored rental values. It was also admitted that the column setting out the particulars of rents had not been filled, in in the valuation roll. The .Magistrate held that it was clear the Valuer had proceeded on a wrong basis, namely 6 per cent of the fee simple, and the list was not prepared according to the Act. In no one in- • tnnee had the particulars been filled in in the special column. He therefore ruled there was no valuation list, according to the requirements of the Act. and it would be necessary for the Court to appoint a valuer to make such a list.
