Referring to Major Campbell’s attempt to make a new motor speed record on Verncnk Park, in South Africa, Alajor Segrave said; —“1 wish him tin;- best of luck.” ' He did not express any opinion as to Campbell’s chances, but motoring experts in London do not anticipate u record.

Alajor Segrave, interviewed, said—“l feel sure that there will be a reaction in favour of British cars, especially in the Dominions. The ordinary purchaser now knows that Britan can produce a car to beat the world on equal terms.”

BANK HOLD-UP IN TIPPERARY

LONDON, April 18

A message from Dublin states a sensational hold-up occurred at Tipperary at the Bank of Ireland in the centre of the city at midday, when two young men drove up in a motor car, entered the bank, and ordered eight customers and bank officials to hold their hands up and face the wall under cover of revolvers. One man scooped up money, and both escaped in the motor.

MAJOR CAMPBELL’S EFFORTS CAPETOWN, April 19.

Major Campbell in a one-way trial •it six in the evening, was officially timed at 210 miles per hour. A bump caused the car to jump thirty feet before regaining the track. It is expected the test win take place to-morrow.
