The Wliangarei Racing Club’s autumn meeting opened to-dav in beautiful weather with a large attendance. The tote took £14,397 against £20,315 in 1928, but a fair comparison with the first day of 1927 shows at £15,338. a decrease of £941. During the afternoon Hon. Mr De La.Perellc opened the new members’ stand. Trial Handicap.—(2) Camp Prince 1, (3) Roman Pearl 2, (1) Haviland 3. Won by a length ; a length and a half.
,Portland Hack.—(2) Sea Cob 1, (6) Gay Cockade 2, (4) Palmares 3. Won by a length; a head. Time 1.17.
Mclnnes Memorial.—(l) Le Choueas 1, (4) Wen day 2. (2) Thursbv 3. Won by a neck; a head. Time 2.9. Northland Hack Hurdles.—(2) Ned Kelly 1, (4) Golden Wedding 2, (A) Just Quietly 3. Won by half a head; two lengths. Time 3.4. iStewards Handicap.—(7) Lucy Rose 1, (1) The Begum 2. (2) Subdivision 3. Won by a length. Time 1.15 4-5. Settlers’ Handicap.—(7) Right and Left 1, (8) Gazerin 2, (6) Kildeer 3. Won by a head. Time 1.32 1-5.
