AFGHAN TROUBLE
(Received this day at 1.60 p.m.) DELHI, April 17
A report from Peshawar . states King Amanullah promisoed a general amnesty to all rebels who gave loyal support in the future and also suggested to Baccarakau, tile rebel king, that he surrender to avoid unnecessary bloodshed. He emphasises no personal enmities. It is unluckily Bac-casakau will entertain the officer during the week-end. The gathering! of thousands of Sunni tribesmen on the north-west frontier decided on a religous war and an advance against the Shiah tribe with whom they have l>een in enmity for hundreds of years. The Arak/.a tribesmen offered to cooperate with the Sunnis. At present there is no indication that the Sunnis will invade British territory, but it is assumed that an incursion is feared, as a column of British-liulian troops at Koliat are standing 'by.
