SHIPBUILDING

The revival of shipbuilding is indicated in Lloyd’s register of shipping, showing 1,357,000 tons are being constructed in Great Britain and Ireland, and 1.480,00;) abroad, increases of 114.(;0() and 105,(XX) respectively'compared with 31st. December.
The figures for Great Britain and Ireland comprise 200,000 for British Dominions, 188,000 for sale or for foreign shipowners. Tonnage commenced in Great Britain and Ireland was 302.000 a decrease of (59,000 compared with Doc. 31st. and 289,000 launched while abroad 298,000 were commenced and 21,400 launched. Tanker tonnage being constructed is 331,000 showing a further .reduction of tonnage of motor ships being constructed in Great Britain and Ireland of 537.000 and abroad 8G2.000.
