CORRESPONDENCE.
SUNDAY’S EIRE. (To the Editor.) Sir, —In view of the present ardent topic in Fire Brigade circles, —motor v. night-watchman, and in tairness to Mr Rid la nd, I ask space to supplement your report of the fire in Davies s Brewery, in yesterday’s paper, to transfer any “ honours ” as to the discovery of the fire, to our-capable watchman. When I first noticed the fire from the railway line in Gibson Quay, 1 cycled to the exchange and rung the tower. Air Rid land, like myself, was unable—due to fog—to classify the light aw a motor car or a fire, but was going to plav safe, and bring out the Brigade. On my suggestion this course was withheld, while 1 cycled up to investigate. Thus any eulogy re “promptattention,” etc., must correctly he addressed to Air Ridland. Thanking you for vour valuable space, 1 am, etc., EDAYARD AI. BEST. Tuesday, Kith April, 1929.
