Twenty-four nations will he represented at the session of the Preparatory Disarmament Conference, which opens at Geneva on April loth, including the United States, Turkey and Russia, which do not belong to the league of Nations. •Mr Gibson (U.S.A. Ambassador to Belgium) and Admiral Jones will represent the United States.
M. Litvinoff is acting for the foreign Commissar of Russia. Lord Cushenden will represent Britain.

The “Daily. Express” says that when the King leaves Bognor. he will spend a few days in London, before going to Windsor. The Court moves to Buckingham Palace on March 27th.
BIRTH CONTROL
EFFECT IN BRITAIN
LONDON. April 11
Reviewing the continued fall in the British birthrate, the Registrar-Gen-eral says: Since the year 1023, the hrith rate has entered upon a stage which, if there is.not an .improvement in the future, must, ultimately result in a declining population. The return for 1927, which lms just been published, shows that there have been 10.391 fewer births than there were in 1920, the rate for the year being the lowest rate ever recorded.
JAP NAVAL DISASTER
37 CADETS KILLED OR INJURED
TOKIO, April 11
While cadets at the Naval School were at torpedo practice, an explosion killed seven of them, and injured 30.

Masked and armed bandits raided the Cozancea Monastery, and left, after cutting out the Prior’s tongue, and mutilating his nose and ears because he refused to disclose the monastery’s funds.
