A TRAGEDY IN NORTH AFRICA

PARIS, April 8
Moorish fishermen, when drawing in their nets at Mellila, discovered the uniformed bodies of two Spanish airmen. They supposedly are those of Major Kaulak and Captain Tauler, who disappeared on December 31st last’’ when flying from Spain to .Morocco. Their seaplane was found empty on the coast near Oran.

The “ Evening Standard ” has invited all Commoners to forecast flic result of the impending elections. MainLiberals are non-committal hut most of the Conservatives responded with prophecies that give an average of Conservatives 335. Labour 219, Liberals and Independents 56. 'Hie majorities vary between seven mid one hundred and thirty. Several Conservatives do
not expect their party to have a clear majority, but all agree that Labour will not he in a position to form a ministry, while the chance of a Liberal revival is dismissed.

Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish wood-pulp producers, representing an annual export production of two million tons, have agreed to regulate production according to demand, and establish a uniform selling policy. It is emphasised that tlie agreement Is designed to stabilise prices, there is no intention to utilise it to raise prices.

AN AMERICAN FREIGHTER.

The American freighter, 'Western Knight, ran on the rocks in a dense fog, eight miles south of Port Elizabeth.
The crew and five passengers were rescued by tugs. The ship is a total wreck.

The first regular night air service in connection with Britain and the Continent was successfully inaugurated when a machine left Lo Bourgot Aerodrome about a quarter past one this morning and reached Croydon about 4 o’clock, earrving a ton of goods.

POUND SHOT DE\D. LONDON. April 10
Mrs Tfonuria Gordon, niece of Gore Ruthven. Governor of South Australia, was found shot dead in a Bayswater flat where she had been attending a dinner party with her husband and friends.
