INSPECTION OK TAXIS. FAULTY BREAKING GEAR. (By Telegraph—Press Association). PALMERSTON N., April 5. Mr P. G. Patton. Palmerston North traffic inspector, and his assistant, Mr 11. .1. Smith, were occupied to-day with the annual inspection and examination of local taxis and service cars. The majority of cars inspected complied with the requirements laid down, though there were cases where the brakes were not satisfactory and which had to be remedied before the cars go on the road. It is not generally known that Mr Patton has power to examine private cars for defects.
