The bursting of a spare tyre at the rear of a tramway bus caused a small boy, Morris Jackson, aged six, to bo taken to hospital on Saturday afternoon. Me was standing close to the spare tyre at the time, and the bus was waiting opposite the Cathedral for passengers for North Beach. The violent explosion, which attracted aftmlion from all parts of the Square, caused some foreign matter to strike the bov over the left eye, inflicting a considerable cut. After having the wound dressed in the out-patients’ department of the hosptial, the hoy was taken to his home at .‘sl, Scott Street. Svdenham. No reason can be given for the explosion of the tyre at that moment. Though it was in Hated it was elf the ground, with no load pressure* on it: neither wen* the rays of the sun very warm. A pretty wedding was solemnised in Masterton on Saturday, February 23, at the Salvation Army Hall, by Adjutant Brown, the contracting parties being Miss Annie Evelyn Willoughby. eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. J. Willoiigjib.v, of Masterton, and Mr David' Christie, third son of Mr and M'rs Christie, of Te Awamutu. As the bride entered the Hall, the bridal march was played by Mrs Brown. The bride who was given away by her father, wore a frock of white satin draped with pearls and an embroidered veil with orange blossoms and pearls and a 'bouquet ' of white roses and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid. Miss G. Willoughby, sister of the bride, wore a frock of mauve crepe de chine. The bridegroom was supported by Air E. Buttleheim as best man. After the ceremony, a reception was held in the Epiphany Hall. Arts Willoughby received her guests wearing a frock oi brocaded satin and hat to tone, also a posy of carnations. There were fifty guests at the breakfast and the presents were numerous including several cheques. Air and Airs Christie left by ear for the south on their honeymoon.
