MR. E. M. DE BURGH

SYDNEY. April 4
The death is announced of Mr E. M. de Burgh, late chief engineer in the Public: Works Department, who supervised a large mini her of national undertakings, including dams 'for the suplily of water for Sydney and for the .Hurray Irrigation scheme.
SHIPPING FREIGHTS
SYDNEY, April 7.
At the shipping tVeights conference, the desire for union, freights, on both Australian and New Zealand export trades was expressed by J. Balderstone, representing the lamb and mutton industry. He said, rightly or wrongly, the impression has gained ground that reductions in Now Zealand were brought about by the efforts of the Export Control Board. .Australia was desirous of carrying oil without such Boards. Her objective, however, was to get at least similar rates to those in New Zealand.
