HOBART, April 5

One of the worst disasters oT recent years in Tasmania occurred, when Cascade Dam, containing seven hundred and fifty million gallons of water hurst under the pressure of excessive rains. An immense wall of water gushed down the valley. Several houses .were washed away and seven persons are

missing. Briseis tin mine office and electrical plant workings were Hooded. Low lying parts of the township are under water. Enormous damage was done. The dam is about four miles from Derby.
