The autumn race meeting of the loca lub is set down for to-morrow. The rirst race is timed to start at a quartei past twelve, and as there are eight events on tiie card, it will be necessary to run the races punctually to time, dince the Christmas meeting the newly enlarged stand has been painted and now presents a finished appearance, setting off the grounds. The course and appointments generally are in good irdcr, and the meeting should pass off very pleasantly. Gas has been laid on to the totalisator house which should facilitate business in the late afternoons of the autumn race days. Altogether the Club lias endeavoured to meet all requirements to the best advantage and tbe meeting should prove both enjoyable and successful.
In the course of 11 note from the Fo> Glacier Hostel, .Mr Eric James state.' the tour of the Government Publicity photographers is nearing completion It lias been very successful. Three camera men (including one movie man] were sent out. 'lll© party left Lake Wanaka on February 21st. and will conclude the tour this week. A largo number of photographs were taken, as also about 40(10 feet of moving pictures. The result should lie a. splendid advertisement for South \Vestlaml wiivn the photographic matter is published abroad -Mr .James who was instrumental in promoting the trip, and was at great pains to assist the camera ■veil to reach all points of interest, is naturally pleased that .the trip has been made, and that the results promise so well for the publicity of the south district, which is so very remarkaide for its scenic attractions. Once .tiiey are known, there will lie greater interest taken in me opening up and
