NEW MEAT FREEZER

Clarence 'Birdseye, of Gloucester, Massachussets is experimenting with a new meat freezing proces whereby the tastefullnes (and pleasing appealance of the produce would be only slightly impaired. It is definitely pointed out however, that the new process is still in its economic infancy nod inis not yet been applied in any great extent commercially except witn fish, fowls, and similar meats. Beef has not yet been subjected extensive.v.” Sharp freezing” is the name gen-j’a'ly applied here to Birdseye’s experiment and it is claimed he invented the device for quickly freezing meat in a temperature from forty to fifty degrees below zero.
A TIMBER PROPOSAL
OTTAWA, March 12,
A message from Victoria (British Columbia) states the Department cf Lnlnds may open a timber office in Australia and close that in Toronto. Borden (Minister of Lands) stated in reply to the opnositme leader, Pattul* that he was doubtful if the closing of'Toronto office would 'vet with the approvul of timber interests. The Minister replied he had discussed the matter with prominent men in the industry who stated they doubted if the province was obtaining value for the money spent in Toronto. No definite plans had been made about the Australian office but tfiere was a possibility of it being established.
