STOPPED IN IRELAND. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). LONDON,- March 12. Owing to protests being made by the Roman Catholic dignitaries, Ireland has discontinued the beauty contest to find a “Miss Ireland” to compete at Galveston in the world contest, cabled on February 7th. The protests of the Bishops in Ireland were reinforced by a protest by ine Catholic Bishop of Galveston, to the following effect: ‘‘No modest girl would enter such competition and parade half naked before a mob.”
