SEPARATE HOARD FOR SOUTH ISLAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association).

WELLINGTON. March 11. That a separate Main Highways Hoard be formed 'for the South Island was decided by Cabinet today. The Prime Minister pointed out, when interviewed, that this move was in conformity with the Government’s policy, as announced before the general election. When Parliament meets it will be asked to give authority for the establishment., of a second Hoard, without, in any way interfering with the finance oif the North Island Board. The Prime Minister further pointed out. that, already, the allocations are separate. He considered the alteration would make for efficiency, hut. at the same time, lie had the very highest opinion ol the work which ban already been done under the Act. It • was necessary, lie said, to cope with remarkable development.
