Second place in the King’s Prize was won by 1). Kerr, of New Zealand, with 317. He beat Griffith (Melbourne) on a count back. The winner of the King’s Prize receives £IOO. Kerr (New Zealand) who was second, wins £4O. P. Hurlow (Victoria) was fourth with 315; James (New Zealand) fifth with 315, taking £lO. Whiteman was 23rd with 310; J.
Feast 34th with 308; Swanson 35th with 308; Masefield 39th (SOT) ; and Boon 49th (306). Each wins £3. Of the other New Zealanders, Root (304), Piper and Nix (302), Orr (301), take £2 each. Other scores were: Mclver and Simmonds (299), Hood and H. Feast (296), Bolton (290), Paterson (287). The cup was presented by General Cliauvel, Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Military Forces. He warmly congratulated the Dominion representatives. coionel Merrett presented to Capt. Marshall on behalf of the team a commemoration cup as a memento of the great fight of New Zealand in the Merrett Inter-State match, j Mayhew, the winner of the King’s | prize, is 39 years of age. He has been striving to win the King’s Prize for 18 years. By trade he is a grocer. He was fourth in the Adelaide King s Gup some years ago. .. MELBOURNE, March 9. Favoured with a- medium right wind aiul a bright light, the International Service Teams Match, under Gordon Highland conditions, was fired to-day. The scoring was good. New Zealand won with an aggregate of 313; Victoria scoring 300, Tasmania 166, and South Australia 146. j The New Zealand team scores were; Masefield and Kerr each 49, Swanson 48, Boon 47, Simmonds 42, H. Feast 37, Soler 25, Hood 16. I Colonel Merrett, in announcing the ■ result, especially congratulated the j Dominion men upon their success, as it was the first time the team had .fired under Australian conditions.. Their total >vas 41 points tetter than 'the last Gordon Highland winning score by New South M ales at Perth in August last year. ! Ten shots at eight and nine hundred yards was contested as follows: V ici toria 450, Tasmania 447. Kerr made I a brilliant 49, and Riper 48, at the 900. The wind was fickle, running from dead in to fifteen right. New Zealand won the match by 22 points, with a total of 870. Victoria made 848, and Tasmania 837. The New Zealand scores were: Piper 92, Boon 91, Kerr 89, Whiteman. Mclver and J. Feast each 87, Hood and H. Feast 85. Masefield 84, Swanson 83.
