An ultimatum was delivered by the Chinese President of the Court to lie Consular body demanding the withdrawal of the Dutch deputy was rejected, inflicting a considerable blow on Chinese prestige. The situation may have far-reaching consequences and affects the judicial status of every foreigner residing in China.
