MEXICAN WAR
REBELS TAKE JUAREZ

NEW YORK, March 9,
Ex-President Calles took the field on Saturday against the rebels, at tlie head'of one of the largest armies massed in Mexico since the Vina rebellion in 1915. As it is definitely crushing the rebellion in the south the Government is now putting its full strength towards the north. A decisive battle is expected near Torreon.
The rebels have announced that a drive on Mexico City will lie made immediately.
Juarez was quiet on Saturday. This followed on its capture* by the rebels on midday, after a severe battle, with considerable casualties on both sides.
Two Americans were killed, also a two-year-old girl by a stray bullet across the border in El Paso, Texas and a man was found dead in Juarez. The fighting was ended when the United States, authorities interposed, because of danger to Americans in El Paso. Three hundred Mexican Federal troops, with their families, are interned in Fort Bliss, in Texas under the terms of the truce.
