For the second stage of the King’s Match, ten shots at six and seven hundred yards, the weather was warm, wind light left rear, giving the first ■ squad down good conditions and brilliant scores. The wind gradually shifted to a rear fishtail, increasing till at • seven hundred the going was hard and a number of misses were recorded, typical of Trentham conditions. The team greatly appreciate ■' the cabled congratulations by the Minister of Defence, Hon T. Wilford.’ The second stage of the King’s Match was won by Taylor (N.S.W.) 95. 1. Janies (N.Z.) second. 92, wins £B. Aitkenhead (Vic.) was third., 91. Vinners of £1 :—Boon .87, Whiteman 86, J. | Feast 84, Hood 83. Counted out:--Kerr, MeJvor, Piper and Simmonds, ! each 83. The. .remainder were:—Orr 82, Masefield 80, Bolton, Roots 78. For the. King’s Cup aggregate to Rate, Palmers (Vie.) leads with 190, Aitkenhead second 190, R. Little (Vic) third 188. James (N.Z.) ninth 187; H. Feast eleventh, 186; Whiteman, 182; Kerr, IS2; Swanson. Boon LSI. Teams From Victoria, New Soutli Wales, South Australia, Tasmania and ' New Zealand compeud under Kolapore : Cup coi/ditions: 10 at 300 , 500 and 600, eight aside. The.. New Zealand team was: Masefield, James, Kerr, H. Feast, Sifnonds, McTvor, Nix. Hood. Capt. Marshall (in command), Roots and Boon, the coaches, were doing their ‘'Mirk well. H. Feast for the second time in succession headed the entire Held, recording a wonderful score of 14.2 out of 150, in adverse conditions. Colonel Merrett specially congratulated Feast on his effort and lie was also cheered by the Australians on his top score, three ahead of anybody. At 300yds. the scores were: New South Wales ’351, New Zealand 346, South Australia 346, Victoria 342, Tas. mania 324. At the 500yds ’New Zealand steadily pulled alien'd with 719, Victoria 713, New South Wales 709. South Australia 1 694, Tasmania 669. , 1 At 600yds the conditions were worse hut cased towards the finish. V ith the first section finished the field closed up and seven points separated the first four teams. Victoria 794. New Zealand 792, New Soutli Wales 792, South Australia 787. The .finish of the first Kolapore Cup of Australia, was intensely thrilling. New Zealand finished early and V ictoria. had only one chance of victory. The result hung on the last shot of the match, a hull being required to win. Armstrong found the centre and won amidst the greatest enthusiasm by one point. Final totals:—Victoria 1059.
