SCHOONER PIRI

TURNS UP AT SYDNEY. HER RUDDER DISABLED. (Australian Press Association) SYDNEY, March 7. The schooner Piri belonging to the Nobel Explosives Coy, which is bound from Melbourne to (-Jreymputli, New Zealand, was signalled ton miles off the Sydney Heads this, afternoon. The -vessel signalled that her rudder was disabled and that assistance was needed. The tug St. Olaves steamed out, and towed the Piri inside the Heads. The Piri anchored safely at seven o’clock to-night, and she will remain here till to-morrow. SYDNEY, March 8. The disabled schooner “Piri” struck heavy weather out from Melbourne, the rudder being carried away. A jury rudder was used and the vessel then headed for Sydney to go into dry dock.
