MEXICAN BLOODSHED
FIGHTING AT VERA CRUZ. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) MET CO CITY, March 7. It is officially stated that sanguinary street fighting occurred at Vera Cruz yesterday between rebel forces under General Aguirre and troops who deserted him. The Consular corps lias intervened to prevent further blood shed. REBELS BREAKING. REPORTED GOVERNMENT SUCCESSES. [Received this day at 9.25. a.m.) NEW YORK, March 7. A complete breakdown o‘f the revolutionary movement at Vera Cruj; mid other parts of Southern Mexico was reported to-day. While the rebels in the north continued 'to drive towards Juarez, where a handful of Federal troops are awaiting General Jesus Aguirre, the rebel commander of Vera Cruz is believed to have fled by sea. Of three revolutionary leaders two are reported to have been defeated. The third, General Borquez, is in Sonora planning a southward movement. The Government have recovered the cities of Monterey, Cordoba, Saltillo, Orizaba, and Jalapo. Vera Cruz is ’ virtually recaptured. Naval forces notified the Government of their loyalty. The first north bound train from Mexico City since the revolution left last night. Precautions are being taken at El Paso (Texas) in the event of fighting at Juarez (.across the border. The Seventh United States Cavalry at Fort Blish is under orders to move to-day with full field equipment..
