WEDDING BELLS

THOMPSON—BLAIR

A pretty and popular wedding was solemnised on Wednesday afternoon at St. Andrew’s Presybterian Church, Hokitika, by the Rev J. W. Hayward, when Len'ore Gordon (Norrie) only daughter of Mrs Blair and the late Mr A. Blair, jm\, was married to Arnold James, eldest son of Mrs Thompson and the late Mr H. A. Thompson, of Hokitika. The service was fully choral, the St. Andrew’s Choir, of which the bride is a member, assisting, with Miss Elsie Robinson at the organ. The bride entered the church oil the arm of her uncle, Mr A. R. Thompson, of Greymouth. Her girl friends had decorated the church with yellow flowers and greenery which had a very pretty effect. The bridal frock was made on charmingly simple lines of ivory silk ring velvet with long sleeves ornamented with a single buckle of diamante at the waist. An exquisite veil of embroidered tulle fell from a coronet of orange blossoms trimmed with diamante. Silver shoes and stockings to match with a shower bouquet of roses and lilies completed a charming costume. Miss Jean Preston and Miss Teen Cowie (cousins of the bridegroom) were in attendance as bridesmaids. They wore dainty frocks of eau-de-nil and pale amber georgette respectively, made with fully flared skirts trimmed and trimmed at sides with circular pecot edged frills with inlets of silver lace and medallions. Silver shoes with stockings to match and picture hats were worn. They each carried beautiful bouquets to match their costumes. Mr R. Tennant. of Greymouth, attended the bridegroom as best man and Mr C. Preston was groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held iii Preston’s tea rooms where the large assembly testified to the popularity and esteem in which the young people are held. The tables were tastefully decorated with flowers sent from Manawatu from Mrs T. Hammond’s (aunt of the bride). Mrs Blair received the guests wearing black celanese relieved with beige.
