[By Telegraph, Per Press Association.) BLENHEIM, March 6. . Concluding a tour of the'South Island, Hon J. B. Donald (PostmasterGeneral) arrived here this afternoon from Kaikoura, and given a civic welcome on the occasion of his first official visit to Blenheim. Responding to the welcome, Mr Donald said lie had learned a great deal about the South Island during nis trip. He said: “I have travelled from North to South and back again. 1 did not go through the West Coast, it is true; but what 1 have seen has surprised me beyond measure. I am sure tlie South has just as much ii not more, to be proud of as we have in the North. It has wonderful possibilites. I am glad that this is so, because we have thought the North was the only place that wanted population.” Aftef receiving a number of deputions, the Minister, as Government representative, attended the Old Identities’ Dinner in celebration of the diamond jubilee of the borough of Blenheim. He leaves for Wellington tomorrow.
