A single barrelled gun was found under the burned body of Thomas Archer, after the fire on Wednesday morning had destroyed his home near Devonport and had wiped out his whole (family. The gun contained a discharged cartridge. A razor was also found on Jus bed. A brief bag also found in the garden contained a barely decipherable note, ending “Goodbye Tom!” LAUNCESTON, February 28. The. bodies of the whole of the Archer family, which was burned to death on Monday night, were buried yesterday. So little was left of the seven bodies after the fire, that one ordinary coffin was sufficient to accommodate the whole of the remains.
