MEAT CONSUMPTION
BIG DROP IN BEEF TRADE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). CHICAGO, February 28.. Mr Everitt Brown, President of the Chicago Livje Stock Exchange, estimated that there has been a shrinkage ' ’of 1375 million dollars in the value of live stock in the United States in the last six months. The diet propaganda was destroying business. The prices for beef cattle had dropped about four dollars pier hundred lbs. He stated that the demand for beef bad been so curtailed that the consumption in some section was 25 per cent, under normal. Some experts assert the markets arc clogged with bedf whiqh 'cannot be sold. Mr Brown also pointed out that tliere was h great change in the public diet in progress, in which meat was cut -to a point 45 per cent, less than ten years ago. , ■
