LONDON, February 27
Femiiiuite dominates all spring and summer fashions, according to the latest Paris deereys. Severe lines are surrendering to flounces, godets and panels, and especially to flounces either narrow, closely gathered, or wide pleated, being cut on the cross in order to give a flare.
Many sieves are also frilled, especially above the elbow. There is also a revival of lace and of beautifully embroidered materials inspired by intricate designs of old Persian fabrics and of antique Chinese materials.
Among the moderns there are floral motifs, or quaint figures scattered upon delicately shaded silk. Some of the most charming season’s frocks are made’of crepe-de-chine and crepe georgette. The bust embroidered at the waist line, is raised from the normal position’ for day wear, and is lowered two inches from this level for evening gowns, which are decidedly longer. Paton is showing dresses which just miss the floor.
Lelong is compromising by featuring gowns with a short trout and long sides and back. Patou is using much mousseline-de-soire decorated with a wealth of frills and flounces, for evening dresses, also tulle frocks, with plain tight fitting bodices, anil very wide skirts, trimmed to suggest panniers decolletage. Mushroom, steel, smoke grey are most favourite shades.
Stockings, on which there :TTe openwork clocks, are growing more, decorative, while lace motifs are woven m the evening stockings. The hats show more brim and trimming, the latter sometimes consisting of bunches of flowers and notably oil camelias and gardenias.
