Louis Auger, the youngest member of the Canadian Parliament, is in gaol, awaiting an application to the Supreme Court for hail. He is charged with a serious offence against a young woman, nnd he was arrested on leaving Parliament Buildings. He was released on a thousand dollar ''ill, but was subsequently rearrested on the Crown’s application, it being contended that his release wa r illegal, and that the criminal code pr° vides that bail could only be granted by a Judge of the Supreme Court, where a person was accused of murder, treason, or an offence punishable by death.
