SUDDEN DEATH

MOONLIGHT TRAGEDY. An unusual tragedy occurred on Monday evening in a horse-drawn vehicle in the bed ot' Moonlight Creek, Mr F elix Li lustrum, a farmer, residing at Moonlight, aged 41 years, expired suddenly as the result, it is believed of heart failure. The deceased purchased a horse, which was brought to him by a youth, and while the latter was present Mr Llnstrom decided to give the animyl a trial in his cart. Upon the first trial the vehicle was taken over the creek bed in an empty state, but as the cart jolted, through being too light, it was decoded to place a quantity of stones in it. The stones, however, scared the ' horse, which began to rear when in the middle of the creek bed, pulling the reins out of the hands of Mr Linstrom. who then overbalanced and fell upon the stones with which the cart was loaded. The youth jumped out of the cart, and the horse turned along the creek, but stopped when it reached some other horses, whilst the youth, noticing Linstrom lay in a limp state, went for a neighbour. Then Mrs Linstrom was called, but when she arrived it was to find her husband breathing his last. There were no bruises upon the body, and it is believed that the cause of death was heart failure as the result .of shock. The deceased, who leaves a widow and two children, was fpr many years Farm Manager at the Kopara for Mr Prvce Hamer, and subsequently engaged in farming at Moonlight on his own account. He was a nephew of the late Mr Anderson, of Moonlight, and a.cousin of Miss Mary Anderson, of Greymouth.
