WESTLAND COMPETITIONS SOCIETY

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 26th

The Committee met at 4.3-5. Present: Mr I). J. Evans (President), Miss A.. Duff, Mrs Wright, Messrs Partridge, T. W. Duff, Sweney, Lynn, Osmers (lion. sec.). Apologies were received from Messrs Stapleton, Richards, and Conning. The minutes were confirmed and the outward correspondence was approved.

The Chairman introduced Mr Harry Osmers, the recently appointed lion, secretary, to the meeting.

The Chairman stated the meeting had been convened to reconsider the dates for the annual competitions. It had been disclosed that the Greymouth bopiety desired to go first and had appropriated a period covering the local dates. In view of the term holidays intervening at the end of August, it would be necessary to go back probably a fortnight. The matter was considered from various angles, and after a general discussion, September 7,9, and 10, were sel ected, with the Demonstration Concert on, the 12th September. It was. resolved to make arrangements accordingly. It was decided to enquire from Christchurch if a judge for dancing would lie available at a charge equal to the resources of the Society. The meeting rose at 5 p.m.
