The Prime Minister stated to-day that Cabinet has decided to hold an early conference in Wellington of representatives of tlie Apprenticeship Committee, for the purpose of considering amendments to tlie 1923 Act. The Prime Minister said to-day that an Investigation Committee was to be called at an early date. The Committee would consist of the Under Secretary of the Immigration Department, the Under Secretary for the Labour Department, representing tho Government; Messrs W. D. Hunt and T. "0. Bishop, representing the employers and Messrs J. Roberts and O. R. Mcßrine, representing tho employees. RED REFLECTORS. In reply to a question to-day, Hon. W. A. Veiteh, Minister of Transport, said nothing had been decided on in the matter of repealing the regulation concerning the carrying of red reflectors on motor cars. Tlie matter was at present receiving his attention and an announcement would bo made shortly. NEW ZEALAND TOBACCO. The Prime Minister stated that I the tenders for the supply of tobacco to the Mental Hospitals and Prisons had been revised, and extended to allow New Zealand manufacturers to compete. The Prime Minister stated that Cabinet has agreed to provide finance for extensive alterations at Rotorua. Tenders are to he called For the reconstruction of the Pavilion Baths, and also the Blue Bath. The accommodation at Lake Te Anu is to be urgently provided, BACON CURING. A Conference is to be held to-morrow between representatives of the bacon curing industry and the Chemistry Officers of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research to discuss the matter of a chemical curing. NEW GOVERNMENT STEAMER. The Government has accepted a tender of Armstrong-Wliitwortli and Coy., for the cob struct ion of a vessel to replace the lighthouse steamer i ulnnokai. The contract price is about 1:60.000, and tlie vessel would be built this
