HOKITIKA ATHLETIC & CYCLING CLUB
A General -Meeting of the above Club presided over by Mr R. Lynn, was held in Mclntosh’s Club Rooms on Friday, 22nd inst. before a fair attendance. The report for the season 1927-1928 shows the total receipts amounted to £*l4B 4s 10d, while the expenditure totalled £l7l. 19s (kl. thus having a debit balance of £23 14s Bd. This deficiency was due to the unfavourable weather conditions, wlfieh caused a big drop in the gate receipts at the last annual sports. It was decided to hold a sports meeting on Cass Square on Wednesday, April 3rd, 1929, the day following the N.Z. Running Championships/ which are'being run in Greymouth on Thursday, 2nd April. A programme, consisting of running, cycling and chopping events with prize money amounting to £9O was drawn up to lx* submitted to the Centre for approval.
The following 'officials were appointed for the ensuing year:—
Patrons: J. O’Brien, M.P. and H. L Michel, M.L.O. President: D. J. Evans. Auditor: L. Spencer.
Treasurer: F. Rocliford. Secretary: G. A. Adamson. Assistant Secretary: A. E. Dawson. The following were added to the list of vice-presidents : —Messrs Steele, A. 11. Lawn, J. S. Langford, A. D. McGnvock. Rocliford, and W! Diedricli. Hie following new members were elected:—Messrs T. Stuart, C. Bleach, H. Stark. S. Brooks.
The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the chair.
