WAITAHA NOTES
(From a Correspondent). The De Luxe Ball held at Waitaha Hall on Friday night last proved to be the greatest success of any gathering neld in the history of Waitaha. From the start of the evening under the pldasant strains of the Black Hand Orchestra, the dancers were at once under their .spell and from 9 p.m. until 2.30 a.m. the evening was true to the plackards that were about, the town: “Hours of Whirl Amidst Beauty and Splendour.” The hall itself inside resembling. a huge fernery, intermingled with balloons and cabbage trees, was indeed the true art of decorating.
It was proclaimed, on all sides, to be, the best country, gathering ever witnessed on the West Coast. The hall -was taxed to its utmost, and it is estimated that at least. 209 people were present and the management have received telegrams of congratulation on the evening’s success. Amongst those present were:—Mrs A. Lawn, blue satin, trimmed with silver lace; Mrs IV. Stopforth, rcse pink crepe de chine; Mrs J. Davidson, navy blue crepe de chine; Mrs G. Linklated, cream georgette; Mrs E. J. Chinn, black satin; Mrs W. Ellis, black crepe, cle chine; Mrs Marshall, black crepe de chine trimmed with silver heads; Mrs Dwan, navy blue crepe de chine; Mrs F. Chinn, floral voile; Mrs W. Henderson, shot taffeta; Mrs MeCallutn, black georgette trimmed with gold lace; Miss Madge McGowan, lielio crepe de c-liine; Miss Jean McGowan, gafF morocaine; Miss Nancy Linklater, royal blue georgette; Miss Florrie Evans, shell pink crepe de chine; Miss Miri Davidson, navy blue silk; Miss Nellie Chinn; pnle blue satin; Miss Lorna Evans, pale blue taffeta; Miss F. .Wright, cerese silk; Miss Wright, brown satin; Miss McMillan, pale pink crepe de chine; Miss I. McMillan, pink taffeta; Miss N. McMullan. shell pink crepe cle chine; Miss K. McMullan, pale green satin; Miss Gardner, pale blue crepe de chine; Miss Crough, pale pink crepe de chine; and others tco numerous to mention.
